Share the Road initiatives are most popular in countries where, like the UK, walking and cycling have a low modal share.

The citizens of continental Europe appear to share the road without having to be asked!

The Australian government's imaginative use of TV commercials rewards considerate road behaviour with respect and status.

 

 


It's official. Bikes belong! In the USA, big overhead signs proclaim equal status... but on the ground most agree there's still a long way to go.

Elsewhere in the States, these diamond shaped road signs and personalised licence plates are now a common sight.

The biggest sponsor of American Share the Road programs is Mack Trucks, who run rolling roadshows staffed by driving champions - truck drivers who have completed a million accident-free miles!
